PalliCHAT#7: Spirituality in Palliative Care

In this PalliCHAT, Christine Nachmann shares her experiences in approaching spirituality in palliative care. She'll cover tips and tools for health care practitioners when approaching spiritual needs. Participants are invited to share their difficult cases when spiritual crises have developed in patients they are caring for.

    Christine is a counsellor and educator with a focus on the psychosocial and spiritual aspects of palliative care. She was part of the education department at a Cape Town hospice for many years where she also served as a spiritual counsellor. In addition to her private counselling practice, Christine has a passion for facilitating workshops on topics like grief, the role of spirituality and culture in healthcare and how to manage difficult conversations.
    She offers online courses open to all who are interested in deepening their engagement with life, loss and grief. Christine has facilitated sessions on spirituality and grief as part of the Palliative Medicine Diploma and Introduction to Palliative Care course at UCT since 2016.
