    Dr. Margie Venter is a Clinical Oncologist and Palliative Medicine Specialist with over a decade of experience in oncology. She now dedicates her clinical practice exclusively to palliative medicine. Dr. Venter runs a private palliative care network in Stellenbosch, providing care in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and homes. As co-founder and Clinical Director of PALPRAC, she is committed to expanding palliative care access in South Africa. She has a special interest in serious illness communication and innovative health systems solutions.

    PhD Student

    Mr Sonwabiso Ngcowa is currently pursuing his PhD studies in Palliative Care and Global Health at the University of Cape Town. He holds a Masters degree in Anthropology, achieved with distinction, as well as an Honours degree and a Bachelor of Social Science degree, with majors in Anthropology and Social Development. As a writer, Sonwabiso has contributed to both fiction and non-fiction genres, with two of his works translated into German. Sonwabiso continues to make strides in his research interests which are on the role of culture and society on palliative care.

    Palliative Care Practitioner and Chair of PALPRAC

    Dr. Julia Ambler is a palliative care practitioner specialising in paediatric palliative care. She completed her PG Diploma in Palliative Medicine from Cardiff in 2006 and currently serves as the Chair of PALPRAC. Dr. Ambler is the co-founder and clinical director of Umduduzi – Hospice Care for Children in Durban and provides paediatric palliative care at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. Additionally, she is a sessional lecturer in paediatrics and family medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
