In this PalliCHAT, Dr Barbara Matthews and Dr Craig Howes will co-facilitate a panel discussion on ways to expand access to Palliative Care, the use of Telemed, and introduce the Puzzle Model and the Remote Access Toolkit.
Palliative Care Practitioner
Dr Matthews holds an MPhil (UCT) in Palliative Medicine and is a Palliative Care practitioner in private practice in the rural Eastern Cape (Sunshine Coast and Makanda). She has clinical associations with Makanda and Sunshine Coast Palcare. In addition, she supports nursing practices in Ggebergha, Garden Route, Southern Cape, West Coast, East London, Vaal Triangle, and Kimberly.
Palliative Care Practitioner
Dr Howes is a Palliative care practitioner in Private practice, practising between the West Coast and Johannesburg. He is in clinical association with St Helena Sandveld Hospice, CancerCare West Coast and Sandton Oncology. Additionally, he's been a PALPRAC Board Member since 2022, and on the SASHA Executive Committee in 2024. He holds a PG Dip Palliative Medicine (UCT) 2019 and is currently reading for an MSc in Palliative Medicine from the University of Glasgow.
